Getting wiring diagrams and any other information from PDF downloads is pretty much impossible for this Indian made little Maruti Suzuki car. We love them here at bargain spares and have worked on quite a few. They are super simple and cheap to repair, although many garages will suck through their teeth when it comes to pricing repairs and maintainance.
Many of these cars come in with engine warning lights on, which is an easy thing to resolve with the correct tool. We have tried many different scanners on these Suzuki Maruti Alto’s, but the only ones we have found to work are the Vgate VS900, the VS550 and the old VS600 which is now unavailible and obsolete. We really can’t get over how good these scanners are, tried them on a Ford Focus RS, A Renault Clio 1.4 Petrol, Peugeot 406 Diesel and a Toyota Yaris Diesel so far and they have all worked first time. Faultless and idiot proof. Seems to work with all obd1 obd2 Maruti Altos.

Maruti Alto Engine warning light codes
These scanners allow you to plug in right under the dashboard, just under the Altos ashtray if you feel for the plug, when connected and booted, they allow you to look up the current error codes, the pending error codes and tell you the exact fault – this picture shows one we did in January – turns out it was the rear lambda sensor which no longer functioned. That was an easy fix and only cost the customer £120 for parts and labour inclusive. These scanners also allow you to read the live data from the engine management system, so you can watch the sensor work or not, how fast the ecu thinks the car is going, how much throttle is being applied etc. Works faultless on the Suzuki Alto’s, one car we found had a fully failed Vehicle speed sensor (£12 off ebay) and the MAP sensor has water in it, so when you went round corners it would splutter and loose power.
A very hand tool for diagnosing any Maruti Alto engine warning light problem. And for the price its unbelievable! The cheap basic Vgate vs550 one is £45 which does everything you need, while the slightly more expensive vs900 has all the functionality to reset airbag warning lights and service due lights on most cars, if your a tool lover definitely get the VS900 as you’ll use it over and over again, while if you just need to get fixed for as little as possible the VS550 will see you right.. Seeing that a garage would charge you £60 to £80 just to plug your car into their computer its a complete no brainer really. Not owning one is almost daft! Its completely idiot proof to use, and with its backlit screen you can use them in the dark no worries.

They also graph out sensor data and record a run out. We are gob smacked at these scanners, snap-on charge a small fortune for their kit which wouldn’t work on our Alto’s, neither would the various computer based kits we have in our stores. I have to say thank you to Gareth who tipped us off about this kit – your a life saver mate. Customers happy, I’m happy, and I can’t wait to use it on the next car that turns up. Thanks!! If you need any information please email me and I will try and answer your question if I can.
